FiRsT dAy Of ScHoOl CaMe EaRlY!!!

Every year before the first day of school there are rituals....

*Clean room really good

*Hang up new school clothes

*Lay school clothes that will be worn on the first day out on the floor with shoes and don't forget the basketball for the head

*Brush teeth good-take shower-smell fresh and clean before bed

*Go to bed early

*Be excited and ready

WELL, this year was different!

Mom checked the district website back in July just to make sure when school started. District calendar said AUGUST 26th! Well great that would work out just fine....one last quick trip to St. George...plan a day at Lagoon....and don't forget Cowabunga the day before school starts just to get that last minute tan and enjoy the water! Ahhh the relaxation and enjoyment of the last few days of summer.......

Forward to August 23rd!

7:00am...Mom turns off alarm and decides to go running a little later just to enjoy the last few days of sleeping in.

8:00am...Mom and children still sleeping-Dad downstairs on the computer

8:30am...Still sleeping

8:40am....Mom slowing waking up getting a little annoyed at the noise she hears out the open bedroom window...lots of kids out early today playing...lots of people going through the neighborhood in their cars...Can't they tell we are SLEEPING!!!!!

8:45am...Mom decides she will just get up and get showered so she is ready to tend little Ashton

8:50am...Mom decides to turn on shower water but first looks out the window as the noise outside is getting a little louder...why are there so many kids out this morning she wonders.

8:51am...Mom looks out the window and confusion sets in at seeing tons of kids walking with backpacks and lining up at the school doors! Mom screams at the top of her lungs "Isaac get out of bed SCHOOL STARTS TODAY!"

8:52am...Isaac goes and looks out the window and says "Can't I just stay home today?" Mom says "NO!" Hurry and get ready!

8:52-8:57am...Isaac rushes around doing all the morning things he does and makes it out the door by 8:58!!

8:58 1/2am...Mom says "Wait I need to take your first day of school picture!

8:59am...Isaac is walking to school

9:00am...SCHOOL STARTS!

Needless to say the rituals went right out the window!

*The good news is Isaac made it to his first day of 6th grade on time and there was no time for Mom to cry over the fact that this would be her last day of sending one of her kids to their first day of elementary school!

Note to self: Don't trust the district website!
